Amy Gardiner BSc (Hons), MBPsS

Advanced Eating Disorders Practitioner | Advanced Nutritional Interventions for Eating Disorders.

I am a private eating disorder practitioner in Down Hatherley, Gloucester offering focused, evidence-based treatment for individuals experiencing restrictive eating, binge eating, bulimia nervosa, emotional eating, and body image concerns. My approach integrates psychological, behavioural, and nutritional methods to support realistic, sustainable change through specialist disordered eating therapy and one-to-one support.

Before establishing Beechwood House Clinic, I spent over ten years working within healthcare settings, gaining a grounded understanding of the challenges people face when navigating physical and psychological health issues. I also have extensive experience supporting recovery and rehabilitation, working closely with individuals adjusting to the impact of trauma and long-term health difficulties.

I trained with the National Centre for Eating Disorders (NCFED) and hold a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, together with specialist training in nutritional rehabilitation for eating disorders through the NCFED. I am also a member of the British Psychological Society (Health Psychology Division). My practice is attentive, structured, and tailored to each person, with an emphasis on developing insight, strengthening coping skills, and restoring a healthier relationship with food and the body. I provide one-to-one sessions in Gloucester and online, offering specialist eating disorder support for adults and adolescents.

Focused eating disorder support

Beechwood House Clinic provides focused, evidence-informed support for people struggling with eating disorders and disordered eating.

This is not generic counselling. Sessions are structured and centred on understanding and reducing harmful eating behaviours, improving safety, and supporting a more stable relationship with food and body over time.

Many people hesitate to seek help because they worry they are “not sick enough”. You do not need to reach crisis point to deserve support. If eating, purging, bingeing, restriction, or ongoing distress around food or body is affecting your life, this may be the right place to start.

Support is collaborative and paced according to individual needs rather than a fixed number of sessions, recognising that change is not linear and is shaped by each individuals experiences and circumstances.

How support works

  • Your first session is a structured conversation about your eating patterns, relationship with food, medical history, and the factors influencing your current challenges. This assessment helps us understand the nature and severity of your difficulties, identify any risks, and clarify the support that would be most effective.

By the end of the session, you will have clear guidance on your treatment options and whether ongoing one-to-one sessions are recommended, so you can decide confidently on the next steps for your recovery.

Assessments are available in person at Beechwood House, Gloucester, or online via secure, private video link.

  • If ongoing sessions are recommended, we will develop a support plan designed specifically for you. The plan addresses your thoughts, behaviours, and relationship with food and is tailored to your individual needs, challenges, and goals. It is reviewed regularly to ensure the pace and focus of treatment remain supportive and effective, so you always know what steps to take next.

  • These sessions provide a safe and structured space to work through the thoughts, behaviours, and emotions connected to food, body image, and self-esteem. Treatment is paced collaboratively and adapts to your progress and challenges over time. The focus is on building confidence, reducing distress, and supporting lasting change so you can feel more in control and move forward with your recovery.

What clients say

Client feedback

“It took me a while to seek help because I didn’t really feel I had any kind of serious problem, but my family kept asking me to see someone and when I first came I was worried I was wasting people’s time. That worry was addressed straight away and I felt taken seriously and supported from the first time I met her. The sessions felt calm and focused on what was actually going on for me. I’m so glad I finally came.”

“What I appreciated most was that the sessions didn’t feel rushed or pressured. Amy listened and worked with me by explaining things clearly and I always felt involved in decisions, rather than being told what I should be doing. It made working on something I find so hard feel so much easier.”

Parent feedback

“My daughter came to sessions at Beechwood House with great reluctance to begin with, but over time she came to see them as helpful and we all appreciate the calm, thoughtful approach Amy takes.”
