Support Tailored to You

Support at Beechwood House focuses on building healthier, more flexible patterns around food, eating and body image. Sessions are structured, collaborative and paced in a way that feels manageable, whether held in person at the clinic or online via secure video, providing private eating disorder support.

Suitability

Support may be helpful if you struggle with rigid food rules, binge eating or loss of control around food, restriction or fear of weight gain, emotional or comfort eating, obsessive thoughts about food, laxative misuse, self-induced vomiting or other purging behaviours, guilt or shame after eating, or distress related to body image. If you are unsure whether support is suitable, this can be discussed during your initial assessment.

Areas we may explore

Depending on your needs, sessions may explore establishing regular eating patterns, reducing anxiety or guilt around meals, developing strategies for managing urges and compulsive behaviours, addressing perfectionism and all-or-nothing thinking, reducing body image distress, and challenging unhelpful cognitive patterns. We will also explore psychoeducation, emotional regulation skills, and practical strategies to increase flexibility and confidence over time.

What sessions look like

Sessions are 50 minutes and may include nutritional education, cognitive and behavioural strategies, practical tools to use between sessions, and reflective discussion to help you develop more flexible, balanced, and less distressing patterns around eating and body image. We will also explore thoughts, feelings, and behaviours related to eating to support this process. I review your progress regularly to ensure the pace and focus remain manageable and appropriately supportive. Sessions take place either in person at Beechwood House in Gloucester or online via secure video.

Suitability

Supportt here is suitable for adolescents and adults who are medically stable and able to engage in outpatient support. If you are experiencing severe medical symptoms, rapid weight change, or require more intensive support, we can discuss alternative pathways and work collaboratively with other professionals where appropriate.

I offer private eating disorder support for adolescents and adults experiencing difficulties including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Restrictive eating and chronic dieting

  • Binge eating and loss-of-control eating

  • Purging and other compensatory behaviours

  • Food anxiety and fear around eating

  • Obsessive calorie tracking or weighing

  • Driven or compulsive exercise

  • Body image distress and weight and shape preoccupation

  • Long-standing disordered eating patterns

  • Support with eating disorder recovery and relapse

This may include people who have a diagnosis such as anorexia (where they are medically stable), bulimia, binge eating disorder or OSFED, as well as people who use behaviours such as self-induced vomiting, laxatives, diuretics or other compensatory behaviours.

You do not need a formal diagnosis, and you do not need to reach crisis point before you seek support. If you are struggling with your relationship with food, your body or eating, you are very welcome to get in touch to discuss whether I am the right person to support you.
